In development for Windows

The sidebar browser, native to Windows.

Skew is a browser built with WinUI. It takes the sidebar way of browsing that Arc made popular and builds it for Windows from the ground up.

Product

A browser that fits the way Windows works.

Skew is early, so this is what we are building, not a feature checklist. The idea is simple: tabs belong at the side, and the app should feel like part of Windows.

Tabs you can still read at twenty open

A row of tabs shrinks until every title is gone. A sidebar stacks them, so each one keeps its name however many you have open.

Native, not ported

Built with WinUI, Microsoft's own interface framework, so Skew uses the same controls as Windows itself.

More room for the page

With tabs at the side, the full height of the window goes to the site you are reading.

Windows only, on purpose

Skew is not a cross-platform app with a Windows build added later. Windows is the only platform we design for, and every decision starts there.

Why Skew

Arc changed how a browser could be organised.

Arc showed that a browser could be built around a sidebar instead of a strip of tabs, and a lot of people never wanted to go back. That idea started on the Mac.

We think Windows deserves a browser built around the same idea, made for Windows first and using the tools Microsoft provides for native apps. That is what Skew is.

  • Native firstIf Windows has a way of doing something, Skew does it that way.
  • Quiet by defaultThe browser should stay out of the way of the page.
  • Built in the open with usersWe are early, and feedback shapes what gets built next.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is Skew?

Skew is a web browser for Windows. Its interface is built with WinUI, and tabs live in a sidebar instead of a row along the top.

Can I download it yet?

Not yet. Skew is in development. Email us to ask for early access and we will get in touch when there is a build to try.

Is Skew connected to Arc?

No. Skew is an independent project. It is inspired by the sidebar approach Arc made popular, and it is not affiliated with The Browser Company.

Will there be a Mac or Linux version?

There are no plans for one. Skew is built with WinUI, which is a Windows framework, and Windows is the platform we are focused on.

How do I give feedback?

Email us. Every message goes to the people building Skew.
